about

This was started pretty early for the album, and actually had electronic drums for a while. (you may have heard an early version at some shows last year) After meeting Mike and playing some shows with him, we discussed recording, and this one seemed perfect. So I ditched the electronic drums, came to his studio for an initial recording, and he nailed it. Like most of the tracks on Succulents and Silicates, it was written in one fell swoop, with a broad left-to-right stroke over the course of the track, and Mike plays in a similar way here.

This was also the first recording of my piano with the new strings. I used two Warm Audio WA12s, and they did indeed pick up the warmth of the piano.
